Her Story

A Life Beautifully Lived

In 1925, in the lush hills of Sangre Grande, Trinidad, a baby girl was born who would one day become the heart of a vast and devoted family. They named her Mona.

She grew under West Indian skies, surrounded by the warmth of the Caribbean and a faith that would carry her through every season of her remarkable life. She built a home — and from that home, eleven children.

From eleven came grandchildren. From grandchildren came great-grandchildren. A family tree rooted in Trinidad, branching out across the world, every branch nourished by her prayers, her cooking, her wisdom, and her unwavering love.

One hundred and one years later, her quiet strength still shapes us all.

The greatest gift she gave us was not what she had,but who she was.

To her eleven children, she was the first voice they ever heard and the steady hand that taught them how to love. To her grandchildren, she was the keeper of every recipe, every song, every prayer. To her great-grandchildren, she is the living thread that ties them back to a small Trinidadian town where it all began.

She sacrificed without keeping count. She gave without expecting return. She prayed for each of us by name. Whatever opportunities we have today, whatever lives we have built — they grew from the soil she tended for a hundred and one years.

Together, We Are Her Greatest Blessing. 🌺

A Queen Among Us

One hundred and one years. Eleven children. Generations of descendants scattered across a world she helped imagine. A life built not on accolades but on faith, perseverance, and an unyielding kind of love that asked for nothing in return.

We are gathered today because of her — because she chose, day after day, year after year, to keep loving us. And so today, we choose to celebrate her with everything we are.

Happy 101st Birthday,

Mona J. Phillips
